WEEK 5...MONDAY 4TH NOVEMBER 2024

Last night it was back to the normal format and some more great matches.
On table one Coastal Crusader sail on with their good form. This time a 7-2 win over Adrian's Allstars and it was Leigh McDonald who had a great maximum and he had good support from both Bob Richardson and Phil Ball who both had wins over Mike Nobes and Jim Duncan. For the Allstars it was just Mick Minns who got points on the scorecard with wins over Bob and Phil. The Crusaders are now five points clear at the top of the table.
On table two a closer result when Heacham Knights edged home 5-4 over The Terriers. However the star player of the match came from the losing side as Graham Keeley was in top form to record his maximum. Janice Howell added their final point with a win over Ollie Loades. For The Knights it was two wins each for Mick Forth and the ever improving Sam Pishorn, Ollie chipped in with a win over Eileen Needham.
On Table three there was no player who could keep a clean sheet in the match between The Inlaws and Hunnys Heroes which the Heroes edged home 5-4. The Inlaws got off to a great start when Jim Race beat Alfie Yarrow in three straight ends. There was never more than one game in the match at anytime. For The Heroes Alfie finished off with two wins and Kerry Smith had a win over Alexi Eon. For the Inlaws Stephen Jackson had wins over Rob Yarrow and Kerry. So with the match at 4-4 with just one to play, Jim going for his maximum and was up against Alfie's Dad Rob. What a climax to a great match, of course it had to go to five ends but it was Rob who denied Jim his maximum winning the final end 11-8. Matches like this is what Heacham table tennis club is all about.
Next week back to the Challenge format.
