Well the league season finally ended on Bank Holiday Monday evening with an exciting finish as Hunnys Heroes and Graham's Allstars were level on points at the top of the table. Plus the final match both teams met to decide who were champions. On paper it looked like Hunnys Heroes 'Yarrow Boys' were the strongest as they faced a determined Janice, Eileen and Graham. But on paper they were the stronger and on the evening proved it with an enjoyable friendly but competitive display coming away 8-1 winners. Graham managed to get a point on the scorecard with a win over young Alfie. So the Heroes take the title with Graham's Allstars finishing second. On table two The Inlaws were up against the ever improving Coastal Crusaders. With The Inlaws needing a win to clinch second place in the league they just failed as they narrowly went down 5-4. This meant The Inlaws finished in third spot and the Crusaders in fourth place. On table three Adrian's Allstars needed to beat The French Connection to finish up in fifth place. It was another very close match with the Allstars just edging home 5-4.
This finishes the league season but there are still three important dates to finish off yet another great season. On Monday 9th May there is a singles competition and on the following Monday 16th May there is a handicap singles competition, both starting at 6.15pm. On Monday 23rd May there is a knock night. On Monday 30th there is a hard bat competition and presentation of trophies including some nibbles.
I know everyone has enjoyed the season and with other leagues either packing up or decreasing in number of teams it is nice to know the Heacham internal league continues to go from strength to strength. This has all been achieved by the hard work and dedication by Jim and Stephen.
